Ages 50-plus are invited to enjoy a relaxing afternoon of creativity and connection. Participants will decorate small garden pots using simple painting techniques, creating a personalized piece perfect for plants, herbs, or flowers. No painting experience is needed—just come ready to unwind, express your creativity, and enjoy good company in a calm, welcoming environment.

The event is part of ARTx3’s Golden Hour programming for ages 50 and older. The event is free but registration is required.

About the Instructor

Bethany Gere

Bethany Gere is the ARTx3 Theater and Programs Coordinator, where she leads dynamic arts programming and theatrical productions for the Southeast Arkansas community. She holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from the University of Arkansas at Monticello, along with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Pathology and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Ouachita Baptist University.

A dedicated performer since 2011, Bethany has appeared on stages across Southeast Arkansas, including at The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas. Some of her favorite roles include Leanne in Puffs, Marie/Fairy Godmother in Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Kathy in 9 to 5 the Musical, Diane Lorimer in 42nd Street, and Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray, a role she also performed professionally at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse.

Bethany is an award-winning arts educator and director, recognized for her impact both on and off the stage. Her honors include the ARTx3 Good Egg Award (2021), the Artsy Hero Award from the Boys & Girls Club of Jefferson County (2024), Teacher of Impact from the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts, and recognition as a Highly Influential Teacher by the Arkansas Governor’s School. In 2025, she was awarded the Women in the Arts Award by the Pine Bluff Chamber of Commerce. She has also received multiple Bellamy Awards for Best Lighting Design, Best Music Direction, and Best Direction.

In addition to performing, Bethany is an accomplished director, choreographer, and music director. Her credits include Sister Act, Legally Blonde, The Last Five Years, Rock of Ages, Matilda the Musical, Finding Nemo Jr., Miracle on Main, and numerous Razzle Dazzle productions. She will direct Shrek the Musical in summer 2026. Bethany has also spent the past four years teaching and inspiring young performers through ARTx3 summer camps.
