The ARTx3 Campus is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Arts Engagement Coordinator who is passionate about the arts, community engagement, and developing the skills necessary to become a future Curator. This full-time role bridges gallery operations, hands-on exhibition work, educational integration, and visitor engagement. With its intentional focus on professional growth, the position serves as a curator-in-training pathway, offering valuable mentorship and learning experiences under the Executive Director/Interim Curator.
The ideal candidate is eager to build curatorial competencies, gain exhibition experience, and support ARTx3’smission to engage, educate, and entertain through dynamic and accessible arts programming.
HOURS:
Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Some evening/weekend hours required for programs and events.
The ARTx3 Campus
The ARTx3 Campus is the convergence of art, creativity, and community in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The campus features three facilities: The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas (ASC),The ARTSpace on Main, and ART WORKS on Main. All facilities present programming in the visual arts, performing arts, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) education through exhibitions, performances, classes, and community partnerships.
Founded in 1968, ASC is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and features a permanent art collection focusing on African American artists, Arkansas artists, and art of the Delta. The modern and multipurpose ARTSpace and ART WORKS facilities host live performances, regional art shows, multidisciplinary workshops, and more. The ARTx3 Campus empowers the community through the arts, supports downtown revitalization, and nurtures the creative economy.

Job Description
1. Gallery Coordination
- Assist with day-to-day gallery operations, presentation, and maintenance.
- Ensure spaces are visitor-ready, clean, safe, and aligned with ARTx3 standards.
- Conduct regular walkthroughs to monitor artwork condition and environmental concerns.
- Prepare gallery spaces for installations, receptions, programs, and artist talks.
- Maintain exhibition tools, equipment, and basic supplies.
2. Exhibitions
- Participate in installation and deinstallation, including painting, layout, lighting, wall text placement, and safe art handling.
- Support curatorial planning by organizing checklists, inventory records, and exhibition materials.
- Assist with shipping, receiving, unpacking artwork, and condition documentation.
- Serve as a point of contact for artists and lenders, ensuring clear, professional communication.
- Help design and produce interpretive materials: didactics, labels, gallery guides, and digital content.
3. Education Tie-Ins & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with the Education Department to alignexhibitions with school programs and STEAM initiatives.
- Develop exhibition-related learning materials(guides, scavenger hunts, educator resources).
- Assist with public programs including artist talks,tours, receptions, and workshops.
- Help build relationships with regional artists ,educators, community partners, and visitors.
- Contribute content for social media and newsletters highlighting exhibitions and engagement opportunities.
4. Light Facilities Oversight
- Conduct checks of gallery spaces and public areas to identify maintenance needs.
- Report building concerns and track resolution with the Facilities/Operations team.
- Maintain lighting, signage, wall quality, and overall visitor flow.
- Assist in monitoring environmental conditions related to artwork preservation.
5. Administrative & Organizational Support
- Build and maintain relationships with local artists, educational organizations, and communities served by ARTx3 to strengthen partnerships.
- Develop strategies to attract audiences to museum exhibitions.
- Work with local schools to bring in school exhibitions such as senior shows.
Required Competencies & Skills
- Curatorial & Exhibition Skills
- Foundational knowledge in art history, contemporary art, or museum studies.
- Understanding of basic curatorial principles and exhibition design.
- Ability to handle artwork safely and follow installation best practices.
- Strong interest in professional curation and exhibition development.
- Technical & Hands-On Skills
- Comfort with tools, ladders, painting, AV equipment, and light carpentry.
- Ablity to lift 30–50 lbs. as needed.
- Familiarity with lighting adjustments, mounting, and gallery prep tasks.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art History, Museum Studies, Arts Administration, or related field; or equivalent experience.
- Experience in a museum, gallery, arts nonprofit, or similar setting preferred.
- Hands-on experience with art handling, installations, or event preparation is a plus.
- Strong interest in curatorial work and demonstrated desire to grow into a Curator role.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for programs and events.
