Vertical Garden

The ART YaRD AT THE artsPACE ON mAIN

See our vertical garden and learn how to make your own!

The ARTx3 Campus is creating a vertical garden in the ART Yard at The ARTSpace on Main! See how produce can be grown in a small amount of space and how you can repurpose items that would ordinarily be thrown away.

“The goal of this project is to show how to produce food items such as herbs, fruits and vegetables and how they can be grown utilizing a small amount of space regardless of where you live,” said J. Tyler Lewis, outreach programs coordinator.

The project is a means of teaching members of the community healthy eating habits and ways to prepare healthy meals by learning to grow their own herbs and vegetables. Vertical gardens are a simple way for anyone to start a garden because they take up little space, and recyclable items found around the house can be used as pots.

We are working with the Boys & Girls of Jefferson County and other local groups on this project.

NEXT VERTICAL GARDEN EVENT: Ages 50+ are invited to our FREE workshop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 17. Learn more and register here.

The inspiration for this project comes from our art exhibition, Dialogues with Mother Earth: Drawing to Save the Planet, by Erica Daborn.
