J. Tyler Lewis is a multidisciplinary theater artist and educator based in Arkansas. With a background in performance, design, and directing, his work explores the intersections of storytelling, education, and community engagement. Originally from San Diego, California, Tyler’s journey through various cities and personal experiences has shaped his artistic perspective, particularly his commitment to making theater accessible to all.
After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Theater from Ouachita Baptist University (2017), Tyler has dedicated his career to both performing arts and arts education. He has worked in academic and community theater spaces, developing productions that center on innovative storytelling and social impact. As a passionate educator, he created “Theater for Every Classroom,” a professional development program integrating theatrical techniques into broader educational frameworks. This program was selected for presentation at the 2024 Innovation Rally by the Office of Innovation for Education.
Beyond the stage, Tyler remains an active force in the arts community. He volunteers and directs at the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, fostering emerging talent and expanding arts accessibility. He also serves as the National Director of Philanthropy for Sophisticated Gentlemen Incorporated, furthering his mission to use the arts as a tool for social change.
Through his work, Tyler continues to explore how theater can be a catalyst for education, empowerment, and connection, making a lasting impact both within and beyond the performance space.
