About

Shrek the Musical is a musical adaptation of the beloved DreamWorks animated film Shrek (based on William Steig’s book Shrek!). With music by Jeanine Tesori and a book and lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire, the show brings the fairy-tale world to life with songs, humor, and heart.

Set in a mythical “once upon a time” land, the story follows Shrek, a grumpy but lovable green ogre who just wants to live alone in his swamp. When a group of banished fairy-tale creatures invade his home, Shrek agrees to travel with a talkative Donkey to confront the evil Lord Farquaad and reclaim his swamp. Along the way, they rescue Princess Fiona, who is hiding a surprising secret.

Through adventure and song, the musical explores themes of acceptance, friendship, and inner beauty, showing that true love and identity often come from the most unexpected places.
